Description of the Opportunity

Applications are now open for the JPS Foundation Power Up EWP STEM Grant for UTECH and CASE students. If you are pursuing Engineering at UTech or a STEM degree at CASE, this grant could be a great opportunity for you. To qualify, you need a strong GPA, a passion for giving back, and a vision for Jamaica’s energy future.

The grant is valued at up to $500,000. It is only valid for the academic year immediately following the award’s offer and cannot be deferred for any reason. The one-time payment is to be applied to studies at the undergraduate level.

Eligibility

  • Enrolled at an accredited tertiary institution in Jamaica
  • Pursuing an engineering degree at the University of Technology (UTech) OR pursuing a degree in a STEM subject at the College of Agriculture, Science and Education (CASE)
  • Demonstrated high academic performance (e.g. having a 3.0 or above GPA, CXC, CAPE etc.)
  • Demonstrated engagement in extra-curricular and/or volunteer work
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Proof of acceptance to /enrolment at UTech or CASE
  • Latest academic transcript
  • A 500-word essay describing your career goals and explaining how you envision contributing to the development of your country in the energy sector after completing your course of study.
