Land & Youth Digital Conference: Call for Session Proposals

Description of the Opportunity

Applications are now open for the Land and Youth Digital Conference: Call for Session Proposals 2025. The 2025 Land and Youth Digital Conference is a free global event amplifying youth voices in land and climate. It will work as a space for young groups to articulate the ideas they want to champion leading up to, during, and beyond COP 30 in Brazil. The objective is to put youth priorities at the center of global decisions on land and climate action.

Young leaders and organizations working with young people concerned about land rights and climate change are invited to submit proposals for 75-90 min sessions.

In May, The Land Portal Foundation consulted with young leaders from indigenous groups, social initiatives, NGOs, and other constituencies across 16 countries about themes to explore during the conference. The results were as diverse as the participants, though they all revolved around land not only as a source of livelihood and dispute, but also as a source of identity. To reflect this diversity, sessions can be proposed on any of the topics below, discussed during the consultation sessions:

• Land, youth, and social justice
• Conflicts, migration, and displacement
• Sustainable management
• Jobs
• Climate Change
• Indigenous rights
• Digitalization and access to information

If the discussion you want to propose does not really fit within any of the above themes, feel free to propose a new one.

Eligibility

• Before submitting a proposal, make sure you register for the conference here.
• To select sessions, they will be looking at:
  • Is the submission thorough, answering all the required questions of the form and making a clear connection with land governance?
  • Is the submission original, i.e., proposing a discussion from a new perspective and/or using innovative formats to engage the audience to contribute?
  • Is the submission taking into account minorities and women?
  • Is the proposed format of the session feasible with the tools that the Land Portal can make available? (They will most likely use Zoom as the conference platform)
