Description of the Opportunity

Applications are now open for The Governor-General’s I Believe Initiative (IBI) Ambassador Programme 2025. The I Believe Initiative is recruiting its 2025 cohort of Ambassadors. If you are 18 years and older, passionate about positively impacting your community and country, actively engaging and inspiring others to make a difference among other great things, apply now to be apart of the new cohort.

IBI Ambassadors will be carefully selected from each parish to form the cohort. The program will maintain an intergenerational approach, ensuring a balanced mix of male and female participants. Shortlisted candidates are invited to an interview and then an induction ceremony where they will be welcomed into the Network by Sir Patrick Allen. Join this great network of Jamaicans who are using what is right in Jamaica to fix what is wrong in Jamaica.

Benefits

Each new Ambassador will:

  • Lead the design and implementation of special projects under the pillar of the Youth, Family and Education programme pillars.
  • Receive year-long tailored mentorship as they work with the GGPE Secretariat to deliver its annual programs: the Summer of Service Scholarship, the Youth Consultative Conference and Parenting Now.
  • Experience leadership development with the aim of coaching and strengthening leadership qualities, build competencies in project design, resource mobilization among other key areas.
  • Engage in social events hosted by the Governor-General’s Programme for Excellence under the patronage of His Excellency the Most Honourable Sir Patrick Allen.
  • Newly inducted IBI Ambassadors will receive a unique package of training, mentoring and networking, and work on a yearlong project focused on the themes of Youth, Family and Education.

Eligibility

  • Jamaicans aged 18 and above who are taking the lead in their communities and using their skills to transform lives are invited to apply to become an IBI Ambassador.
  • Applicants must be citizens of Jamaica, residing in Jamaica
  • Applicants need to demonstrate evidence of their leadership qualities.
  • Applicants need to have proven experience of working to improve their communities locally, regionally or at a national level and be able to show evidence of their achievements.
  • All applicants/nominees need to be supported by a suitable referee.
  • Priority will be given to individuals with a strong affinity for the Sustainable Development Goals and Vision 2030 Jamaica.
  • All applications will be considered based on the young person’s achievements, potential, and future ambition.

Newly selected IBI Ambassadors must be willing to:

  1. Commit 5 hours per week to their assigned project within the Programme
  2. Participate in at least two (2) training sessions organized by the GGPE Secretariat.
  3. Uphold the values of the IBI in personal and public conduct
  4. Attend the activities of the IBI/GGPE
  5. Submit annual reports of their work done within their parishes to the GGPE Secretariat.
