Description of the Opportunity

The recruitment campaign is now open for the Teaching Assistants Programme in France (TAPIF) 2026-2027. Would you like to have a work experience in France? Would you like to contribute to the development of exchanges between students and teachers? Do you want to have an impact on life in a French classroom? Then, become a foreign language assistant in France. The language assistants programme relies on a solid global network of partners (embassies, Ministries of Education, agencies, etc.)

Benefits

  • Candidates will be paid monthly (about 800 to 813 € net) for teaching English in France but will be expected to support themselves financially during the first month or two of their stay in France. To this end, they should be prepared to travel with approximately € 1000.00 – 1500.00, to tide them over until all the necessary paperwork has been submitted and the first monthly salary can be processed.

Eligibility

The foreign language assistant programme is open to all candidates who:

  • are nationals of /enrolled students in the country where the application is being made;
  • are native speakers of the language to be taught in France – English in the case of Jamaica and the Bahamas;
  • have completed their secondary education and are enrolled in higher education in the country from which they are applying;
  • are aged between 20 and 35 years old (for Jamaica and the Bahamas) at the point of their arrival in France. The age range agreed between the partner countries is in line with the programme’s general objectives and the assistant’s specific profile;
  • are enrolled in and attending a university at the time of application or are recent graduates. Students from the Alliance Française, and similar private institutions, will also be considered;
  • have successfully completed studies equivalent to the 2nd year (L2) of the French Licence (bachelor’s degree) at the point of their arrival in France (depending on country);
  • possess a good knowledge of the French language (B1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.).

Application Process

Interested candidates are advised to begin collecting supporting documents for their application immediately. All supporting documents should be submitted online along with your application form. Incomplete applications will not be considered, and the candidate will be deemed ineligible for recruitment.

Support documents you will need

1. A cover letter;
2. A photocopy of your passport, valid up to December 2026 (photo page, with passport number and signature of candidate);
3. Proof of registration for the academic year 2025-2026 from the relevant tertiary or private institution (eg. UWI, Shortwood, The Alliance Française) or;
4. A certified copy of the most recent transcript or diploma obtained;
5. A copy of your degree if undergraduate studies have been completed;
6. Proof that candidates who are married or have children will be free to travel and reside in France for the relevant period;
7. A recommendation letter from a teacher, attesting to your proficiency in French.
